Week number what?

Ok. So, I had this grand plan to blog every week about my process. Guess what? That’s right, life gets in the way. I’m not moanin’ or complainin’, though I’ve been known to do so quite well. No. I’m just stating the facts. So, we’re really on week 5 or 6 of this songwriting excursion, but this is the second post from me.

Anyway, onto the business at hand. I’ve been having a dog gone blast writing lately. This weekly thing has been great to recharge my creative juices and in the meantime I’ve learned a few things about my recording software that have solidified my geek reputation. It’s true folks. You don’t know shit about shit until you actually get in there and get your hands dirty. So, that’s what I’m doin’. I’m using Logic as my recording software most of the time. If I’m in a hurry, I’ll do a quick guitar and voice only recording on my iPhone using the voice recorder.

Oh, and another thing. I plan on giving you, whoever you are, some different versions of these same songs. As I mentioned before, these weekly songwriting exercises are demos; plain and simple. Not finished versions that I’d use to support my eating habit. Just plain ole rough ass demos. Eventually, I’m going to give you finished versions of these same songs.

For the purposes of this post, the phrase of the week was ‘coyote’. My mindset this time? I wanted to move away from the wilderness or animal picture that popped into my head. I also couldn’t help but think of the sweet ass eighties carnival-bought coyote mirror that I won for throwing balls at a target. Not those balls. Well, you know. So, to move away from that, I started researching. By research, I mean google. I found this bitchin’ photo of a green mustang. Inspiration? Done and done. So, with that thought in mind, it did what all songs do. It morphed and then morphed again. Anyway, here’s the end result of that thought. Click the arrow below to listen.

Hope you enjoy the song. There will be lots more to come. Feel free to drop me a note or ask questions.
